Jungle Cock Feathers - BONUS nails

Attention - these are not the "Jungle Cock Eyes" or Jungle Cock Nails used in so many patterns. These are bonus feathers and nails that come on the same skin as the eyes. We are selling JC EYES or JC Nails as a different product. As a bonus, there are a few nails included in this bag of goodies. 

Jungle Cock Feathers have long been used as accent feathers on various steelhead and Atlantic salmon patterns, however, Jungle Cock has become increasingly more difficult to source year by year due to factors like bird flu that have forced aviaries around the world to destroy their flocks. In addition, many companies began to create FAKE jungle cock eyes by printing designs on plastic, thus very few feathers from the rest of the bird were finding their way into fly tiers' hands. 

The jungle cock accent feathers, which you will find a pile of in this bag, can be used to recreate Dec Hogan's classic steelhead fly called Jungle Cock Rock. They can also be used in creative ways for your own steelhead patterns. 

As a BONUS - each pack of loose JC feathers contains a PRIZE. A small 2 x 3 zip lock bag containing 12-16 feathers that are either match nails of the golden variety (see the bird picture) which are found where the grey spotted feathers end and the darker feathers begin. These golden nails can be used in the same way that Jungle Cock Eyes are used on any other fly.
