Hesperoperla pacifica is the large golden stonefly and is one of the two species of large stoneflies that make up the salmon fly hatch on the Deschutes river. The golden stone is most important to have because this species lays eggs by landing on the water (the salmonfly drops eggs from the air) and thus is much more available to the trout during the back half of the famous hatch.
