Callibaetis - Soft Hackle

A classic soft hackle pattern tied with Hungarian partridge will do the trick for you on lakes where Callibaetis are hatching. Callibaetis are light grey mayflies that live in shallow basin lakes and hatch out in the warmer spring months - especially on cloudy or rainy days. The Hungarian partridge represents the tall speckled wing that will eventually stand up like a sail when the adult emerges onto the surface. Before you see adults, this fly should be fished on an intermediate or full sink line and stripped in fairly short and fast little bursts between rests.
