Jungle Cock Nails (also known as jungle cock eyes) just might be the holy grail of fly tying - and it has become increasingly more difficult to source year by year due to factors like bird flu that have forced aviaries around the world to destroy their flocks. The throat area of the Grey Jungle Fowl, native to Asia, is speckled with really cool waxy feathers with yellow and beige dots that make them look like eyes. For years, nearly every classic Atlantic Salmon pattern sported jungle cock nails as eyes on either side of the fly. THey are popular amongst steelhead tiers these days who want to put that “special touch” on their hair wing or intruder pattern, although most now have to resort to tying the flies with imitation jungle cock nails printed out on plastic. Even the plastic fake jungle cock eyes are expensive - and they never look as good as the real deal.

Full jungle cock skins with decent nails on them sell for $200-400 per skin, so having an opportunity to buy a small portion of the skin with the eyes already matched up is a real money saver for the fly tier who just wants to dress up a few of his/her favorite patterns. Each of these packets has 6 pairs (12 feathers in total) of pre-matched nails in various sizes. Most of the packages will have XS-XL feathers. No two packages are exactly alike.
