Mallard Pointer Wing Quills are needed for tying many of the upright quill-style trout flies as well as old-school wet flies. Tie either with the dull grey/brown portion of the wing for a very natural looking dun wing, OR, get flashy with the iridescent portion of the wing. The blue-green section of half of each of these feathers shimmers like a splash of gasoline on a roadside puddle.Â
