Gordy Nash's Streetwalker steelhead fly was invented in 1983 not long after a company called Hedron invented a material called Flashabou. At the time is was sacrilege to put anything on a fly that wasn't a natural material. Gordy chose to dive into synthetics, using pearl flashabou for the wing of the Streetwalker. He chose a hook that was stout and stayed down in the water even when heavily dressed. With its extra this profile and flashy wing, this fly does the trick of making a small fly visible in off-color water.Â
Gordy's "Trashy, Flashy, Classless Girl" has earned her way into the hearts and fly boxes of many steelhead anglers around the northwest.Â
