Lemon Wood Duck Flank feathers have been incredibly difficult to find in the past few years. When we found a supplier with a bulk amount of lemon Wood Duck for sale - we jumped at the chance to bring this highly versatile feather into our fly shop. If you tie Catskill-style dries, this feather is an absolute must for the Catskill-style upright wings. It can also be used on tons of other trout patterns as a wing, a tail, a hackle, or legs. The natural speckle in the feather does a great job of mimicking the speckles found in nature’s patterns.
Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon fly tiers also love this feather, as it can be used much like bronze mallard flank to create feather wings for steelhead flies. I also like the look of a steelhead fly with the lemon wood duck feather as a collar.Â
