CLOSING THIS SATURDAY AT 11:00 AM

Hello all, we are going to be closing at 11:00 AM on Saturday to attend the Deschutes River Alliance annual auction at The Redd in Portland. The event goes from 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM and all of the fun people who support the Deschutes River will be there!!
The photo you see at the top of this report is a stunning framed shadow box fly plate with a commissioned piece of Deschutes River art in the center. All of the flies you see around the edge of the print are original patterns designed and tied by John Hazel and Randy Stetzer. This stunning piece of art will be auctioned off at the DRA event tomorrow and the winner will also receive a box of flies tied by John and Randy containing each of the flies in the frame. You can admire the flies at home and enjoy fishing each one of them over the course of a steelhead season.
There are a few seats left at the event, so jump on in and join the fun.
For those of you who will be hitting the river this weekend, the same ol’ winter fishing report will repeat itself this weekend. The river is in great shape, the Blue Winged Olives are hatching in good numbers on the rainy/cloudy days, less so on the sunny days. It has been a little bit chilly out here at night, so don’t be surprised to find a little frosty coating of ice on your tent.
We are starting to see a few more caddis flying around along with midges, but the majority of anglers are finding their success subsurface. Use nymph rigs, with or without indicators, and streamer rigs with weighted sink tips and weighted sculpin patterns. Stripping streamers is more effective than swinging them.
We hope to see a lot of you at the event tomorrow!
